My first homemade bread

I made bread! It turned out okay considering it was my first time with regular bread I guess. I think I let it raise a bit too long because it overflowed the pan slightly. I forgot to butter the top before baking so the top was a bit dry, but I liked it kind of crusty. It was edible to say the least. And to say the most it tasted pretty good. Especially toasted with butter and strawberry jam. The recipe is from Pantry Secrets sold at Alisons Pantry. I got all the ingredients from Alisons Pantry. Theres all kinds of other types of bread you can make with it. Anyway, it wasn't as hard as I thought. Using a kitchen aid and halving the recipe really helped. The original recipe makes 4 loaves. Do you have any tips for me next time I make bread?

Oh yes and Mckayla sat patiently in her high chair eating carrots durning the process. Isn't she sweet?

  1. I love homemade bread. I don't make it very much but I do enjoy it. I take the easy way out though, I have a bread maker :)

  2. Homemade bread is the ultimate comfort food. I love the smell. Great pics of the process too. It looks like McKayla was mostly playing with the carrots--there aren't any on her face! She is such a doll. oh and I think we have that same high chair (only older and dirtier-cuz I hate to clean it)

  3. If you got the dough to overflow the pan, it seems like you're doing everything right to me! The first couple of times I baked bread, the dough didn't rise and I was left with a baked brick. Made the house smell good but completely inedible!

Isn't it satisfying? Mmmmm. I think I need to make some this weekend....
