Craft inspired

I've been looking at a lot of "craft blogs" lately (namely Keeping it Simple) and felt inspired to do some of my own using things I already have at home. First is this old brass ugly ghirardelli pen holder that I spray painted and stuck some scrap book embellishments on. Now it is fit for my desk. :) Sorry no before pictures :( That would have been more drastic.
For you photography enthusiasts, I used a soft box and my Nikon D90 and SB600 flash to get this shot. I'm finally figuring out how to use my new flash!

These were some cute little wooden flowers I got at Provo Craft Outlet and decided to jazz 'em up a bit before I hung them on the wall in Mckayla's room. They were about a buck a piece! Also featured is the complete wall ensemble I created for her room :)

Now, this you might say was cute enough to begin with. However my version was faded and chipped and there was no place for it in the nursery. ( I got the pic off Kohls.com)So it gets the can! Of spray paint that is.

After some spray paint and some cutesy little craft stuff...I have a necklace hanger in my closet! Yeah! I've needed one of these for quite some time now. If only the little knobs would stay on I would be in business. Apparently hot glue doesn't stick homemade spray painted pencil segments to spraypainted frames very well :) I've been hearing necklaces drop all morning and running in with the glue gun to fix the pegs. Any suggestions to make it work better would be appreciated.

Thanks to my crafty blogger friends for the inspiration!

  3. Those crafts are amazing!!! I love them and McKayla's room is just adorable. I need to decorate my boys' rooms, but it won't turn out nearly as cute as that.

  4. Hi! I saw your craft inspired post over at Keeping It Simple. Great job on your projects and super cute wall display in your daughters room. You have inspired me with your necklace hanger. I have a 3 picture picture frame that I have been trying to figure out something to do with it...holding this idea as a possibility. You might try wood glue to keep your pegs in verses hot glue.
